We believe that a quality early childhood program encourages a love of learning and preparing children for school. We also believe that the program adapts to each child’s developmental needs. Similar to school readiness, we believe that the program should help children develop life skills. At Jackson Child Care, we are continually at work creating fun and exciting learning environments, field trips, and activities for the children in our care. Our Early Childhood Program focuses on:

  • Development of letter knowledge, print motivation, phonological awareness, vocabulary, and narrative–all fundamental skills for reading
  • Development of essential school readiness skills focusing on individual children’s needs in the curriculum planning process
  • Guided play using knowledge of early childhood development to create an at home nurturing environment with enriching activities to support the development of school readiness and life skills
  • Language development that allows children to communicate with others, cultivate writing, cultivate reading, and cultivate critical thinking
  • Play which is essential for young children’s development and learning
  • Social and emotional development
  • Fostering listening skills because listeners are learners
  • Unstructured/Free Play- allowing time and making available age appropriate play materials for children to experience the joy of free
  • Immersion Learning – Hands-on-learning through field trip experiences

JCC Program daily activities align with the Virginia Foundation Blocks for Early Learning.  We are a Virginia State licensed family day home.  Our preschool program is the only Family Day Home in this area registered with and approved by the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (NACCRRA), a military tuition assistance program.
We provide the children in our care with age appropriate developmental activities so that they experience successful transitions into elementary school. All children in care engage in learning activities and experiences that covers the following domains: language and emerging literacy, math, science, physical health and social/emotional development with specific learning objectives.  Working together with parents we support children’s growth, learning, and development!

For the past 25 years, we have supported families with quality early care along with providing their children with a stellar educational experience and a solid academic foundation.

Using an integrated approach, the learning activities included in our curriculum address developmental areas that make up the whole child. We are pleased to reported that we use the Virginia Foundation Blocks for Early Learning as our guide.

For the past 25 years we have successfully prepared children to enter kindergarten and to learn with a structured researched-based curriculum.
